About – Description

The Jeopardy board game was released in 1964 and was based on the American TV game show of the same name.

Produced by Milton Bradley originally and has a playing time of 45 minutes, the board game Jeopardy has been made for up to five players to play and is suitable for people over the age of 12.

It is a game that is pretty much suitable for families and parties.

Who’s it best suited for?

Jeopardy the board game is suitable for families, game show lovers and those who enjoy trivia games.

As it is a trivia game, it could be considered to be an educational kind of game that is great for bringing people together.

Whether the family want to fill some time or you want to inject some excitement into a party, Jeopardy covers all bases.

It’s a game for everyone given that there’s a wide range of categories covered including music, sport, sitcoms and holidays.

Skill – Complexity

The game itself is relatively simple to play but it is a trivia game with a twist as players have to answer with a question. Therefore, it will require an element of understanding in order to play it correctly.

Set Up – Playing Rules & Instructions

There is not much of a set up for the game as there is no board. It’s a matter of having the cards and money prepared, and reading through the rules for the main three stages of the game.

There could be slight variations of game play depending on which version you have, although the fundamentals of play are the same.

Players select a category and a dollar value. The higher the dollar value, the more difficult the question and so, the value card is removed with the answer being shown to the player. The first player who thinks they know the question should signal an answer and reveal their question (which is the answer).

Once the board has been cleared, the same process is used for Double Jeopardy, where five new categories are selected and the stakes are doubled.

In the final round, known as Final Jeopardy, the highest value statement from the previous round is used and players can bet a chosen amount or all of their winnings and then record their responses.

The winner is the player left with the most amount of cash after the three rounds are played.

Versions – Editions

The game has been released in a number of countries throughout the years but special editions have been released including a Simpsons special edition, an ESPN sports edition and a travel edition.

Likes & Dislikes

Players love this fun-filled game which is great for bringing people together and it is perfect for the whole family. It is also liked because of the way it plays exactly like the TV show. Some prefer the older versions of the game as it has a different layout and design.

Final Thoughts

A simple, yet effective board game that is suitable for a wide audience. The quickfire play and anticipation of the game make it the ideal choice for families and parties.

It is a trivia game with a twist which makes it perfect for those who are looking for something different.

Of course this would not be the first choice of trivia game I would suggest a person buys if they’re in search of a great trivia, but as another option, something different and for someone that likes the quiz show then it’s an option.
