Spontuneous Board Game Box

All players need to do is race to blurt out any song containing a particular given word. No singing skills are necessary and it’s the perfect game for multiple generations to enjoy together. Designed for ages 8 and over, 4 to 10 players in teams are ideal.

About – Description

Released in 2010 and brilliant to play as a party game or at a big family gathering, Spontuneous is simply about being the quickest player to blurt out the name of a song – after all, most of us already do it regularly! You hear a word, a song pops into your head, and you spontaneously start singing it!

An example question in this game might be: Can you think of a song with the word “chicken” in it? How about “thunder”? Got one? Shout it out – and don’t worry, you don’t have to sing it!

Best Suited For Groups And Families

The more the merrier! This is a fast-paced game of creativity and fun, and is best played by 6 to 10 players of mixed ages.

Skill – Complexity

This game has a very simple concept, is of very low complexity and is extremely easy to learn and teach. However, it is aimed at slightly older children as it has a very fast pace to it, requires a lot of thinking on your feet and can get a little rowdy!

Set Up – Playing Rules & Instructions

Setting up:

Inside the box you’ll find:

  • Game Board
  • 10 Player Pawns
  • 50 Cards
  • 1 Timer
  • 1 Hit-List Tablet
  • Pencils
  • 2 Dice
  • Rules Sheet

Spontuneous Board Game

Setting up this game is incredibly simple. To begin, each player should sit within close proximity of the board and a “tunesmith” should be appointed, who holds a hit list of words to play.

Object of the game:

The object of the game is to stump the other players from being able to sing any part of any song that contains your trigger word! The first player to reach the finish space (showing a treble clef) is the winner.

Playing Instructions:

One player says a word and the race is on for the others to sing a song containing that word. Playing starts with the Tunesmith turning the timer over and announcing a trigger word from his/her “hit list”. The first player who starts singing a song that contains a minimum of 5 words containing the trigger word, in any portion of the song, will receive a point. However, someone must come up with a song before the timer runs out otherwise it’s an opportunity lost!

Versions – Editions

Besides the original English version which was launched in 2010, the Swedish edition of this game – Spontana Toner – was released in 2014.

Likes & Dislikes

If you’re up for a game that’s loud, crazy and brilliantly good fun then this is the one for you! Easy to play, fast paced and perfect for anyone of any gaming ability, it’ll soon be a well-established family favourite.

A good quality board with well-made pieces, Spontuneous is definitely one to pick up next time you’re out and about. Having said this, it’s worth remembering that some people are naturally quiet so this game is not likely to be a hit with introverts. Although extroverts, music lovers and drama enthusiasts will love this game, it’s also not ideal for very young children or those who are of a shy disposition.

Final Thoughts

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a singing superstar or couldn’t hold a tune if your life depended on it, Spontuneous is one of the best board games around for family game night and parties with friends. Some people even make it into an adult drinking game, great for birthday and bachelorette parties too! Either way, Spontuneous will make your face ache with laughter and will definitely leave everyone wanting an encore.

Awards and Honors

In addition to being one of Amazon’s 100 best-selling board games, Spontuneous has won several awards including: Music Teacher Approved, Mom’s Choice Gold Award, Dr. Toy’s Best Vacation Product, Parent Tested Parent Approved Seal of Approval, The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, Mom’s Best Hot Product Award, Creative Child Magazine Game of the Year and the Play Advances Language Award.
